Yugen Trinidad and Tobago was founded in September 2019 by Jamala Alexander with the mission “to promote sustainability and environmental awareness through online journalism and the creation of sustainable services for Caribbean millennials and business-owners”. This mission is echoed through its name, ‘Yugen’ – a Japanese term which may be defined as “a profound awareness of the universe that triggers a deep emotional response” – and its core values of Sustainability, Transparency, Knowledge Sharing and Community Building.
Yugen’s mission is achieved through Yugen Stories, an online forum and environmental blog which produces stories on environmental businesses, NGOs and movements in the Caribbean and Yugen Solutions, a green business consultancy.
Yugen Trinidad and Tobago has established numerous connections and partnerships including with Central Pathfinders Environmental Foundation and New Fire World.
Yugen Trinidad and Tobago looks forward to rebranding and continuing work related to building environmental consciousness, community building and the fostering of deeper partnerships with other local and regional brands.
