The Valencia Community Council (VCC) formerly known as the Valencia Village Council has been functioning for over 40 years. The VCC is a voluntary non-profit, non-governmental, non- religious and non-political organization operating within a defined area. It is the co-ordinating agency for community improvement and its main function is to promote the interest and welfare of Valencia and its residents nd to protect the natural environment. Its members are drawn together from throughout the community with no barriers to qualification.
Over the years the Valencia Community Council has embarked on a number of projects to help improve the community and lives of its residents. These include VCC’s successful lobbying for the opening of the Early Childhood Centre, the cleaning of the rivers, community events ,talent shows for young people, family days and more.
Although Valencia has a large population, is rich in the natural resources and is the supply source for major quarrying companies, the VCC is faced with challenges of financial support and membership. However, despite this, the VCC continues to push forward with its goal to help make Valencia a better place for its residents and, by extension, the country.
